	A night with The Rebetiko Odyssey! Thursday 26th January 2012 The Rebetiko Odyssey are playing at Balik Arts, Basement of Café Mostra 86 Stoke Newington High Street London N16 7PA The event is a gig/jam session and will start at 8pm and finish at 11pm. Admission is free. Rebetiko otherwise known as the 'Greek Blues' originated in the taverns and tekes of Greece. Formed from the country's urban subculture, Rebetiko songs are renowned for addressing the realities of society and its everyday life. Having evolved from its 'roots music' origin, Rebetiko has come to form the foundations of Greek popular music as it is known today.
